Other Fees
More on the meal plan:
The meal plan for first term has three levels fully tax exempt
levels to choose from:
1) $1350 per term non taxable
2) $1550 per term non taxable
3) $1650 per term non taxable
Students choose the meal plan appropriate for their needs. After the plan is paid in full, the Resident can add additional meal dollars as needed. Money can be added at the Residence office in increments of $50. No bonus dollars will be added for incremented payments.
Charges will be placed on a student’s account by Residence & Housing. Chartwells SFU Dining Services issues the meal card; students can obtain their card at the Residence & Housing Dining Hall (or at check in during the fall term).
Payments for the meal plan are due at the same time as tuition and residence fees. The meal card must be presented each time a purchase is made. The card is valid for use in the residence C-store located in the Dining Hall, Tim Hortons located in the West Mall Complex, MacKenzie Café found on the 3rd floor of the Academic Quad, White Spot found on the 2nd floor of the Academic Quad and the Diamond Alumni Centre. The meal plan cannot be used for purchasing alcohol.
Meal cards are not transferable, and Residents may not transfer dollars to another Resident’s card. At the end of fall term all left-over monies can be carried forward and automatically added to a minimum purchase of $900 or meal plan selected for the spring term unless otherwise notified. Or should the resident move out at the end of fall term, unspent dollars can be placed on a taxable Piper Card.
New students for spring term will be required to pay the first term rates listed above. Funds left unspent at the end of spring term will be forfeited. The meal plan is in effect from the first day of term to the last day of term only. The Dining Hall is closed between term breaks.
Parking - optional
For residents who want to park in one of the residence parking lots, the fee is $160.00 per term.
