Application
Things to know BEFORE you apply:
How do I apply?
To apply, simply click on the green button to your right.
Once you get to the application:
1. If you have not applied for Residence before, click on the "Register" icon above the log-in section on the top left-side to get your Residence ID number and password.
2. If you HAVE submitted an application in the past and/or have been a resident, use your Residence I.D. # and password to log-in. There is no need to register a second time.
Once you get your user I.D. and password, follow the steps in the application.

What email address should I use for the application? Why is it bad to use "Hotmail"?
If you are a current SFU or FIC student, we recommend that you use your SFU or FIC email address. If you do not have one of those addresses yet, we strongly suggest that you provide an email address that IS NOT Hotmail.
Through our experience, we have found that many student who provide us with a hotmail address DO NOT receive our offers of housing we send out. That is why we recommend addresses from accounts such as Yahoo, Gmail, etc.
We would hate for you to miss out on an offer of housing because you used a Hotmail address in your application!
When should I apply for residence?
We recommend that you apply for residence at the same time as when you submit your application to SFU.
Fall applications are available as of December 1st of the previous year.
How many credit hours do I have to take while living in Residence?
To qualify to live in Residence, you must:
- be registered in and complete successfully 9 credit hours
- graduate students must be registered 'full-time'
I don't have my student number yet. Can I still apply?
It is unnecessary to wait for your student number to apply; you will have to leave the student number field blank and complete your online application. Your application will be considered incomplete until you get your student number. When you receive your student number, you MUST make sure that we have it too.
When is the deadline to apply for fall?
There is no set deadline to apply to Residence, although we do recommend that you get your application in before February 28. Students who submit a completed application by February 28 and get offered admission to SFU have a higher chance at recieving an offer.
We continue to accept applications until we are full.
When do you send out offers for single-student buildings for the fall term?
For residents who are living here for the spring term, we give them an opportunity to guarantee their housing for fall before the end of the spring term. If they indicate that they want a fall offer before they leave, their housing offers will go out in March/ April; providing that they have a complete application on file.
For new residents, offers will begin to go out near the start of May. We will continue to send out offers until we are full; often we have to wait for SFU to provide an admittance date before we can proceed with new applications.
When do you send out fall offers for family and graduate housing?
Before we can send out offers to new residents for family and graduate housing, we must first complete the renewal period for current residents. This is typically done in late May to early June.
Once the renewal process is complete, offers to new residents will start to be emailed out. This is typically done in mid-June; we'll continue to send out offers until we are full.
