Program

Statistics programs train students in the design of scientific experiments and surveys, as well as in the analysis and intepretation of data.

Two streams of undergraduate statistics courses are available. The first is for students who want a working knowledge of the standard methods of analyzing data; their main interest is likely in another discipline, but they recognize the value of statistical methods in their future work. The other stream is for students who wish a more in-depth treatment of statistical methods with the skill to modify or develop methods to tackle challenging problems.

The programs include both non-statistics and statistics courses. Non-statistics courses include basic mathematical training in algebra and calculus, as well as computing. Statistics courses train students in the fundamentals of probability theory, the analysis of all types of data, the communication of statistical concepts, the design of experiments, and the understanding of surveys.

Students may also combine study and work through the co-operative education program or research assistanceships. Such experience with solving real-world problems complements classroom learning... and looks great on your resume!
