Program

A major or honours program in Kinesiology provides students with an extensive understanding of human structure and function and their relation to health and movement. Students may choose from the general program or complete the optional concentration in Active Health and Rehabilitation.

The general program offers students the greatest flexibility in tailoring their undergraduate degree to future career paths. The Active Health & Rehabilitation concentration encompasses health and wellness promotion, fitness appraisal, counselling and programming in addition to clinical kinesiology and exercise rehabilitation.

Course work in both areas will emphasize physiology, anatomy, fitness and health assessment, practical experience in the development of fitness and wellness programs, occupational ergonomics, nutrition, study of the physiological responses to acute and chronic work and exercise, and theories, models and intervention strategies in health behaviour and promotion.

Degree offered: BSc

Career opportunities

Graduates will be leaders in health promotion and exercise programming, finding employment in a variety of fields such as exercise and rehabilitation therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, personal training, and occupational ergonomics. This specialization provides excellent preparation for further studies leading to careers as physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

Our strong co-op program allows our BPK students to enrich their university experience by obtaining paid work directly related to their degree and to confirm their career goals.
