Prospective Exchange/Study Abroad Students: Restricted Courses
Due to possible time conflicts between courses, lack of availability of some courses, missing pre-requisites, or department restrictions on space due to demand, the exchange/study abroad student's acceptance to participate in a formal exchange/study abroad program at SFU does not guarantee placement in the courses the exchange/study abroad student has requested on his/her exchange/study abroad application form. Some academic programs and courses have limited access or are closed to exchange/study abroad students.
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences/French Cohort Program
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences offers a B.A. in Public Administration and Community Services, taught primarily in French. School for the Contemporary Arts
To enroll in any Contemporary Arts (FPA) courses - Theatre, Visual Art, Music (composition) or Dance - you MUST contact the School for the Contemporary Arts, in addition to completing the regular Admission as an Exchange/Study Abroad Student application, to discuss your course interests and background.
Undergraduate students are asked to contact the undergraduate advisor in Contemporary Arts, Dean Lastoria, prior to our exchange/study abroad application deadline.
Graduate students are asked to contact the Graduate Program secretary in Contemporary Arts, mfagrad@sfu.ca, prior to our exchange/study abroad application deadline.
It is extremely rare for exchange/study abroad students to be given access to "studio courses" offered at a level higher than first year (100 level). You may be required to present a portfolio or attend an interview or audition to determine what courses may be available to you. FPA courses are generally quite small and access is restricted. FPA courses in film/video production and screenwriting ARE NOT accessible to exchange/study abroad students.
