Health Clinics: Services
Our Vancouver and Burnaby health clinics
provide primary health care to all SFU students, as well as some services to staff and faculty (if you are staff or faculty, click here to see which services are available to you). Please note visitors and temporary contractors can access HCS urgent and emergency care as well as our vaccination clinics. The teams at SFU Health Clinics include doctors, nurses, and medical office assistants.
Services include:
Provided by doctors:
- Physical examinations
- Minor procedures
- Birth control (available at a reduced rate at both of our clinics)
- Well woman exams (includes pelvic exam/pap smear, blood pressure check, safer sex and birth control information).
- Sexuality transmitted infection (STI) screening and treatment
- Travel medicine services
- Vaccinations
- Urgent and emergency care
- Health screening and preventative services
Provided by nurses (please book an appointment with a nurse if you require these services):
- Routine immunizations (e.g. tetanus booster): please be prepared to wait 20 minutes in the patient lounge post immunization.
- Allergy injections (note: please book your INITIAL appointment with a doctor. Patients are asked to remain in the clinic for 30 minutes post allergy injection).
- Wound care (note: if your injury is work related, please let our front reception staff know and they will have an occupational first aid attendant see you).
- Pregnancy testing
- Health education
- SFU is now offering Chiropractor services at the Burnaby mountain campus for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of various musculoskeletal system problems including issues regarding the spine.
Provided by the allergist: (note: a referral from your family doctor is required to see an allergist)
- The allergist will discuss your history of allergies and asthma with you
- Physical assessment
- Skin testing and Spirometry testing
- Lung Function testing
Important information for your appointment:
It is recommended to make an appointment as we cannot guarantee an available booking for drop-in visits. If you arrive at HCS during business hours due to an urgent health concern (e.g. fever, urinary tract infection, wound infection) or it is an emergency, please report directly to our reception.
Cancellation Fees
For appointments with counsellors, psychologists, doctors & nurses, there is a $22 fee charged for no shows and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice.
Allergist appointments require 3 business days notice, otherwise the $250 fee will be charged.
