International students (non-US)
Financing your studies
An offer of admission to the University is not an offer of financial support.
The University assumes that incoming students will arrange their own funding to meet immigration requirements for the issuance or renewal of student authorizations and Visas. Canada Student loans, provincial assistance programs and federally sponsored graduate and undergraduate scholarships are available only to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
Only upon enrollment at the University can international students access most forms of financial assistance. Bursaries, awarded on the basis of financial need, count only as extra funding, not as the core funding needed to meet immigration requirements.
Employment options are available to international students; to find out more details visit SFU International Services for Students.
