Awards for undergraduate students

To apply for an award, you must:

  • have made a noteworthy intellectual, cultural, social or athletic contribution(s) to university life.
  • be enrolled in at least nine units at SFU in your term of eligibility
  • have completed at least nine units at SFU
  • have a minimum 2.00 CGPA at SFU during the term of your contribution

Awards: how to apply

  1. Check out our online Scholarship, Awards, and Bursaries database to determine which scholarships and awards you may be eligible for based on the terms of reference.
  2. To apply, log in to the Student Information System and click on "Apply for Scholarships/Awards."
  3. Submit your application form and all applicable documents (eg, letters of reference, resumes, etc.) to Financial Aid and Awards, Student Services, by the required deadline date(s).
  4. If you are awarded a scholarship and/or award, Financial Aid and Awards will notify you in writing. Due to the high volume of applications received each term, please note that disbursement of funds may not occur until the middle of the term. You are encouraged to plan accordingly.

Note: certain scholarships and awards are awarded by nomination only. If you wish to be considered for these, please contact the appropriate nominating body as outlined in the terms of reference.

Regulations governing all prizes, medals or awards over which the University has jurisdiction can be found in the SFU Calendar.

External awards

External awards are awards that are not directly administered by the university. SFU Financial Aid and Awards will publicize all known external awards and will provide you with the application form if available. For a select number of awards we will also collect the application form.

Graduate students
